inkling 03 mental loop.png

Does your ruminating mind provide a running monologue throughout the day that holds you captive in unproductive mental loops?

Or, perhaps your brain is more likely to strike at night by interrupting REM sleep cycles with scenario replays, second-guessing, to-do list reminders, or criticisms about shortcomings. Either way, I'm deeply fascinated by how many people struggle with the sheer power and influence of our own thoughts and internal dialogue. What's equally fascinating is how the flip side of self-talk (the positive variation - if done correctly) can help bolster our confidence, diminish our fears, and help us make decisions or think of creative solutions to challenges. I'm grateful that my work allows me to explore this with clients so that narratives can shift from ones that keep us stuck to ones that liberate us.

I won't attempt to use this brief post as an opportunity to offer detailed strategies, nor do I want to resort to makeshift "quick tips" or "one-size-fits-all solutions" for a topic that requires deeper exploration. Rather, I create inklings as visual catalysts to spark real conversations whether it's in the public comments posted on social media or via direct messages. Share your thoughts and experiences.

*Every week I create & post a visual representation (an inkling) inspired by my work as an executive coach & leadership development facilitator.
